I am basically a Neandertal, I spend most of my time either clubbing females to Rut with...and occasionally I tear the head off Saber-Toothed Tigers, just to maintain my status as the baddest MFer in my paleolithic jungle neighborhood thingy. Hey everyone, my name is Josh, I'm currently going to Gaston College to finish up some pre-reqs so I can transfer to NCSU and get a BS in Zoology, Animal Sciences. I'm an avid field herper (person who goes out into the field to look for reptiles and amphibians) as well as a reptile breeder. I currently am breeding leopard geckos, crested geckos and rattlesnakes. I figured this could be short and sweet. :)

Back in August of '08, while doing research, I was bitten by one of my research specimens, a nice male copperhead on my thumb. I spent 16 hrs in the hospital (Both Gaston Memorial and then CMC) received 6 vials of CroFab (A type of anti-venin used on North American pit vipers) had an allergic reaction, rushed via ambulance to CMC and received more meds there. My total doctor bill was $20,195.93 and I didn't have insurance, so I've been trying to pay this off. The snake was kept alive and is, in fact, in our snake room at this very moment. I'm not particularly fond of him, however.

I don't really care if you're not fond of reptiles but It'd be nice if you could just tolerate them. I'll tell you this now, reptiles are my life, without them I'd be a dull person. I breed geckos for a hobby, so you can say I am a geneticist in some ways, as I deal a lot with genes when breeding stuff. I spend most of my time during spring, summer and fall traveling across the south eastern United States just to look for snakes. I'm more comfortable in a swamp than I am at the beach, but I am not objective of the beach. I'm the only person in North America at the moment to be studying animals in the Ophisaurus genus, I've learned quite a bit about them since researching them.

I'm not your average 20 yr old college student. I'm not very school spirited but i like to learn new things. I'm going to UNCC this year then hopefully back to WCU next fall to finish off my studies. 2 more years! I work part time delivering Pizzas, not gonna say where because I'm not proud of my job, especially when i have to stand outside and wave a "specials" sign. I can't help what i find funny. were all a bit odd. I'm about 80% honest. the other 20% being i may do something and not tell u about it unless asked directly and specifically. I usually don't have anything to hide and i'm an open book, but if its personal i may not share it, and if its a dumb question like "do these jeans make my ass look big" i may lie to say no. Odds are i'll say yes to that anyways because 1, its kinda funny, and 2, i'm sure if your asking me that i've already seen it and i like it so no worries.
