North Gaston High School Reviews

My child has been at NOGA for three years. In that time with the exception of a couple of higher level math teachers she has had wonderful teachers. I do feel the school administration and the guidance office should do more about parent communications.

There are too many students per teacher ratio at North Gaston due to the busing of students out of district, mainly because of Highland Tech. The EOC'S seem to be more important to the school Board than realizing the specific needs of each individual child. We need more Guidance Counselors like.Ms.Ms.Daniels Daniels l..MsMrs.Daniels who really care where each student is and to lead them in the right pathway to suit their

North Gaston High School was a very clean school in the 70's and 80's and students had pride in thier school, Teachers were local and grew up in the community and were a big part of the development. Now the school is dirty, and need of repair, lights need to be fixed, and lockers need replaced, the parking lot is broken and the overall appearance is poor. The sports program is football, other sports take a back seat, if your child is not on the football team, or a cheerleader they are treated as second class citizens.

While North Gaston might not have the best reputation, it has a great principal and assistant principals at the helm now. As a whole, the school is working very hard to achieve the level of success that is necessary for its students to do well in this now global society. Rome was not built in a day... stick with us.

I have been extremely worried about the quality of education from this school since attending my stepson's parent/teacher conferences 2 years ago. All of his teachers had a pessimistic view of the students in their classes and a defeatist attitude in general. I was told that they have no control over their classes and no way to ensure improvement. The students know that they can do whatever they want and nothing can be done to them. Sports (football in particular) and cheerleading appear to take precedence over education here. I have also witnessed special treatment given to the 'star' football players and cheerleaders, where the average student would have been severely punished. I am extremely concerned about the future of this school. I have 2 younger children who will definitely not be attending NG if drastic changes are not made.

I have to say I totally agree with the previous review. I, too, am a NOGA alumni who has lost all respect for NG. There seems to be NO discipline or focus from either students or staff. Administration should be reorganized with a staff who can make our school a place of learning instead of a place kids goof and get high while teachers look the other way!!!

As a lifetime resident of Dallas, a former student at NOGA and the parent of a former student at NOGA, I regret that I can not say anything positive about the current or recent staff and program at NOGA. Discipline has been ineffective at the school for quite some time. Theft of student posessions is rife and respect for students and staff is minimal. My child is currently attending another high school in Gaston County and the differance is like night and day.

North Gaston is a place of getting dumb and slack it seem they dont worrie about each student but just to pass them for the money.

As a former student of North Gaston I strongly recommend North Gaston to any parent who is struggling with trying to find a school for there kid to go to. Even though people may belittle North Gaston, Noga is the best school ever. Im not just saying that because I went there, because it really is a great school.

North Gaston is more than likely the worst High School in Gaston County. There are more fights there than any other school and the teachers seem to have NO control over what happens in the school. It is very racially separated. I would not advise anyone to send there children there.

Well, I think that North Gaston High school is the most worst school that at parent could ever send their children to. Some of the teachers will send their students out of the classroom for no reason. I know cause one day my child came home and told me that she was having problem's with a teacher, I told my child not to tell the teacher that I was going to come by to see if my child was telling the truth. That next day I went to the class the teacher was yelling at my child and the rest of the class. I just dont think that it is right...
